› Happy Easter

» Posted: Friday, March 29th, 2013 by Sophie

It Feels like the sun has turned a corner this Friday- a Good Friday. Even though the wind is cold the sky is light.

I have had a marvellous March although madly busy- but finally all the Spring/Summer plans are coming together.

As April approaches, I am delighted to announce that I will be performing at The Tabernacle, Powis Square, w11 April 19th and then swiftly move into a co-headline USA Spring Tour with my good friends The Egg.

I will also be performing with them and there are some new places on route like San Diego. I haven’t been there since I was with Zer0 7 in 2004. I love that city and the most exciting place will be Tulum, Mexico, where we start our tour.

Many many more wonderful experiences to be had, I didn’t think that last year could be topped but so far so good..

Have a great Easter weekend. Enjoy the rest..

› Hello March

» Posted: Friday, March 8th, 2013 by Sophie

I can’t believe that it is here already! Where does all the time go – I thank the seasons above that there is a little light and warmth upon us. This is when I feel my year really begins, life starts to change and plans start to be made.

February was never my month and I realise that’s why there are so many November babies! Nothing better to do.

We are still mercury in retrograde until March 17th so I never make too many plans as everything can change in a second. So I just start visualising the experiences I want to bring into my life in the near future.

I have been working on my EP which will be ready for release in the summer and organising various intimate gigs and Festival shows, some with full band and some acoustic.

I have Glastonbury this summer which for me will be a massive highlight as it has always been a dream to play there with my band and it’s happening this summer 2013. Thirteen has always been my lucky number!

I am working towards a big show in April with full band to kick off the spring/summer season and then also there are plans for a return to the US in May co-headlining with another great band. Details to follow…

rare collectionIn the meantime this Sunday March 10th which happens to be Mothers day, I am releasing a collection of my live and acoustic songs for all of you out there. A light, stripped down springtime album to Thank you all for all of your support.

So wishing you all a great weekend. See you Sunday at 9pm – Destination Everywhere!!

› February 2013

For me February is always an in-between month. I have never been an in-between person so you can imagine my frustration at times. You are on the edge as the cold, dark winter begins to have glimpses of longer days and warmth from the sun and then it goes back into the bleak mid winter.

There is a restlessness that seems prolonged by the seasonal change and you know that Spring is around the corner but you just have to wait out the winter and for me these can be my SAD(the seasonal defective disorder) days. There is no greater time in the year where I can truly say ‘Patience is a virtue’ as I egg on the change knowing full well that it is not ready even if I think I am!!!

However today was a beautiful day with the sun teasing me with a little bit of light and warmth. On my bike, letting the cool, crisp air brush my face. I Cycled into Portobello feeling as if I was slowly coming out of my hibernation to greet smiley faces. I already felt my spirits lift and in the mood for chat. I can finally feel that movement happening. All is good with the world…

The start of the month was very busy as I have been in the studio working on new tunes and listening to mixes of a few that will be on the next album and I can finally see how it’s all coming together but it’s all new to me the next step and I am never sure about anything, so I just have to take it all in my stride.

I have been gathering ideas for the next stage of SB music. We have more gigs and festivals planned and possible tours but the music is where the foundation must lie and here I must trust implicitly in this path more than ever before.

There have been many quiet moments as well which always leaves room for contemplation and sometimes frustration as I love being busy- and when I have moments when things are taking a little longer to realise, I sometimes become mentally impatient rather than just let it happen.

There is a real balance to the dynamic and constant that surrounds us in our every day lives and when you are in the in-between month that can be hard as I want to go, go, go when life seems slow, slow slow. Bring on spring I say!

I leave you with a wonderful wise saying that has been mentioned to me a few times this month- so I must take note.

Life is all about the journey and not the destination – Ralph Waldo Emerson

Cheers to that and see you in March with more news.
